TWISP — With deer hunting season opening Saturday, the state is putting up signs in the Methow Valley to warn hunters that federally protected wolves may be in the area and should not be killed. The Wenatchee World reports that the signs show the differences between gray wolves and coyotes — most notably that wolves are much bigger. Coyotes can be hunted all year, but the wolves are listed as an endangered species in Washington. Biologists recently confirmed that at least one wolf pack is living in north-central Washington. Signs are also going up in Pend Oreille County in northeast Washington, where individual wolf sightings have been made. seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008248096_webwolves10m.html
